| Yankees Edge Pussies 4-3 to Open Challenger Round | The New York Yankees started the Challenger Round in style today, winning on the road against the Tampon Bay Pussies at Pamprin Ballpark by a score of 4-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Yankees right-hander Yu Darvish threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball.
In the top of the first, New York third baseman David Wright had a big at-bat. With one out and a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. For the game, Wright went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Wright.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Tampa. The scheduled starters for the game are Denny McLain for the New York Yankees and Jim Bunning for the the Tampon Bay Pussies.
