PBL World Series Game 1 Victory for Newhouser and Tampon Bay
The Tampon Bay Pussies started the PBL World Series in style today, downing the visiting Boston Pilgrims at Pamprin Ballpark by a score of 7-1 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Pussies left-hander Hal Newhouser threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball.

In the bottom of the fifth, with the game tied, Boston allowed the Pussies to go up, 2-1, on a Boston error.

Newhouser called the win "a team effort."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Tampa. The scheduled starters for the game are Lee Richmond for the Boston Pilgrims and Paul Derringer for the the Tampon Bay Pussies.
