| Pilgrims Nip Stars, 6-5 | The Boston Pilgrims defeated the Philadelphia Stars, 6-5, in Phoenix Baseball League action at Fenway Park II. Boston pitcher Al Mamaux had a standout performance. The Pilgrims have now won 5 straight.
Rob Deer had a big 2-run double for the Pilgrims in the bottom of the first inning. With Boston leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Camilo Pascual and swatted a double to left. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pilgrims ahead, 3-0.
"I felt good up there," said Deer. "I saw the ball well."
