| Padres Turn Back Pussies, 3-1 | The San Diego Padres dumped the Tampon Bay Pussies, 3-1, in large part due to catcher Harry Chiti. On the day, Chiti went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Padres. The Padres raised their record to 54-85.
Chiti had no bigger at-bat than in the top of the fourth when the 31-year old catcher hit a 2-run double. The double gave San Diego the lead, 2-1. It was his 1st double of the season.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Chiti.
