Pussies Over Pilgrims, 3-2
Tampon Bay Pussies starter Dixie Leverett pitched his team past the Boston Pilgrims, 3-2. Roy Crabb was credited with the save, his 33rd in 35 tries. The PBL-leading Pussies are 103-53.

The Pilgrims had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Pussies going into the top of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 1987 Most Valuable Player Award winner Ellis Burks came to the plate. Burks hit a 2-run home run on a 2-1 fastball from Boston hurler Schoolboy Rowe. It was Burks's 19th home run of the year.

"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Leverett.
