The Boston Pilgrims picked up a win at Fenway Park II, knocking off the Tampon Bay Pussies, 5-4. On the mound for Boston was left-hander J A Happ, who played a pivotal role in the win. Scott Kazmir snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 12-7 on the season. Cody Allen was credited with the save, his 20th in 21 tries.

Josh Hamilton, who finished 4th in the PBL in slugging percentage with .565 in 1996, aided the Boston cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder was 2 for 3 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Tampon Bay manager Dan LaHousse. "But we decided not to take it."

With the win, Boston raised its record to 101-57.
