| Black Aces Win, Now 96-61 | The Houston Black Aces relied on the hitting of designated hitter Leo Cardenas to stop the Texas Rangers, 8-5. For the game, Cardenas went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Sean Doolittle earned the save, his 34th in 39 tries. With the win, Houston pushed its record to 96-61.
Tony Lazzeri had a big 2-run double for the Black Aces in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Houston leading 3-2 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Bert Inks and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 38th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Black Aces ahead, 5-2.
"This was a good win for us," said Cardenas. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
