The manager of the Houston Black Aces said he always had confidence handing the ball to Boone Logan out of the bullpen.

The 27-year-old was a dominant performer all year for Houston and his efforts have been rewarded with the Phoenix Baseball League Tums Reliever of the Year Award for 1999.

The bullpen ace had an impressive 1.05 ERA this season, with 5 saves in 41 relief appearances. He fanned 57 batters in 51.1 innings and sported a record of 7 wins and 3 losses.

He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 10. Sean Doolittle of the Houston Black Aces finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Clay Bryant of the Pittsburgh Ambassadors finished third with 1 first place vote.
