Tampon Bay's Newhouser Gets Golden Arm Award

The Tampon Bay Pussies have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It's Hal Newhouser, this year's Phoenix Baseball League Golden Arm Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Newhouser compiled a 18-1 record in 34 starts, tallied 198 strikeouts in 195.2 innings and recorded a 2.44 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .197 batting average against him.

He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Pete Alexander of the Philadelphia Stars finished second in voting, while Paul Derringer of the Tampon Bay Pussies finished third.
