| Page, Virginia Beach Start Round 1 Strong with Home Win | The Virginia Beach Blue Claws powered past the visiting Richmond Ghostriders, 3-2, in the opener of the Round 1 at Players Ballpark today. Virginia Beach designated hitter Mitchell Page was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, to lead the charge. The Blue Claws now lead the series 1-0.
Page contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With the bases loaded, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat among others that helped Virginia Beach get the win.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Page said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Virginia Beach. Slated to start are Chuck Rainey for Richmond and Steve Trout for Virginia Beach.
