Richmond Breaks Through for First Win in Round 1; Now Trails 2-1
The Richmond Ghostriders have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Virginia Beach Blue Claws, winning 3-1 at Richmond Fields today. Ghostriders left-hander Rick Waits was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Ghostriders to 2-1 in the best-of-5 Round 1.

In his 86-pitch effort, Waits allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits over 7 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 8.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Waits.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Jim Lonborg for Virginia Beach and Chuck Rainey for Richmond.
