Black Aces Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-1
Despite a great performance by San Diego starter J R Richard, the Houston Black Aces defeated the Padres by the score of 4-3 at Astrodome today. Richard threw 8 innings allowing 4 runs to earn player of the game honors, but could not prevent the Black Aces from moving one game closer to the Divisional. Houston now leads the Wildcard 3-1.

Houston grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and a runner on 3rd, Lee Mazzilli delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 4-3 in favor of the Black Aces.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Mazzilli. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Astrodome. Slated to start are Dennis Eckersley for San Diego and Fernando Valenzuela for Houston.
