Spirited fans greeted the Texas Rangers for their clash with the Houston Black Aces.

The Houston Black Aces topped the Texas Rangers, 14-5, in Phoenix Baseball League action at Arlington Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Houston left fielder Michael Brantley. Billy Loes, the winner, improved to 4-0. He held the Rangers to 1 run on 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 2.

Mike Tiernan, who led the PBL in runs with 128 in 1989, aided the Houston cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the fourth. For the game, the designated hitter was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"It was our day today," Tiernan told the Houston Gazette. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."

The win boosted Houston to 26-21.
