Black Aces Need Extra Frames to Get Past Rangers | No one was more impactful than Kirby Puckett in the 7-6 Houston win over Texas. Puckett, who finished 2nd in the PBL in triples with 10 last year, went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Houston pitcher Reyes Moronta got the win, upping his record to 2-0. Roy Witherup got the loss. Houston raised its record to 27-21 with the win.
Puckett had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a first pitch fastball from Roy Witherup, he banged a solo home run to right-center, giving the Black Aces a 7-6 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Puckett.
"When you think about it," Puckett said, "there's often a fine line between triumph and tragedy. One pitch, one swing of the bat can make all the difference." | | | | |
