| Rangers Jolt Padres, 11-6, with Late Rally | San Diego right fielder Bill Nicholson had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Nicholson went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3, even as Texas beat the Padres, 11-6. San Diego is in the throes of a 9-game losing streak.
Texas used the timely hitting of Clyde Barnhart to capture the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rangers on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"Feels good to get the job done," Barnhart said after the game.
