| Padres Beat Visiting Stars, 5-3 | San Diego pitcher Lefty Grove did his part in helping his team beat the Philadelphia Stars, 5-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The loss has the Stars at 4-7.
Rickie Weeks had a timely hit in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out and a runner on 3rd, the San Diego second baseman hit a run-scoring single. That put the Padres in front, 5-3.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Grove told the San Diego Bulletin.
