| Pilgrims Resilient in 6-5 Win Over Texas | Texas got a terrific game from catcher Matt Wieters. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Boston, 6-5. Wieters was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Boston reliever Cody Allen was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Hector Almonte. Boston now has a record of 76-41 with the win.
The Pilgrims procured the win, in large part because of right fielder Sam West. In the bottom of the ninth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
West said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
