| Phillies Whitewash Red Sox, Nomo Winner Tuesday, September 27th, 1977 Hideo Nomo held the Boston Red Sox to 3 hits and fashioned a fine 2-0 shutout at Citizens Bank Park today.
Speaking after the game, Philadelphia Phillies manager Paul Patricola said "Nomo had everything going for him today."
He changed speeds effectively, stayed down, had a lot of movement," he said. "He was masterful."
Nomo rung up 6 strikeouts and surrendered 2 walks in the game.
"We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," Boston manager Mike Wallace told reporters.
In 34 starts this year Nomo has crafted a 14-15 record and a 3.65 ERA.
