| Campbell Electric in 8-0 Win Saturday, June 5th, 1999 The Rancho Cucamonga Headhunters shut out the Sherwood Owls 8-0 today behind the strong pitching of Archie Campbell. Campbell surrendered only 3 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 11.
Following the last out, Campbell appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Sherwood manager Darold Knowles, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Campbell's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Owls skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Headhunters press conference, Campbell confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Campbell said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Rancho Cucamonga manager Frank Tanana added.
Campbell has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 4-4 record with a 2.88 ERA. The Rancho Cucamonga reliever has limited opposing batters to a .202 batting average.
