| Campbell Electric in 7-0 Win Thursday, July 30th, 1987 The Des Moines Sky Chiefs shut out the Rancho Cucamonga Headhunters 7-0 today behind the strong pitching of Archie Campbell. Campbell surrendered only 3 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 9.
Following the last out, Campbell appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Rancho Cucamonga manager Tom Lasorda, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Campbell's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Headhunters skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Sky Chiefs press conference, Campbell confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Campbell said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Des Moines manager added.
So far this year Campbell has a 3-4 record with a 5.05 ERA.
