 | Russell Shows Off, Hits for Cycle Saturday, August 6th, 1977 Jim Russell put on a show at FNB Field today, hitting for the cycle and driving the Portland Sea Dogs to victory, 5-2. "I was really seeing the ball well today," the left fielder said after his team's win over the Auburn Doubledays. "I wasn't going to be fooled by any pitch and there was nothing they could do to stop me." Russell went 4-for-4 in the game with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Jim Russell singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 6th and tripled in the 8th.
