| Sky Chiefs, Zambrano Buzz Blue Claws, 2-0 | The Des Moines Sky Chiefs whipped the Virginia Beach Blue Claws 2-0 at Players Ballpark today behind a masterful outing from starter Carlos Zambrano.
Zambrano shut out the Blue Claws on 2 hits and no walks. He registered 7 strikeouts over 9 innings.
"Velocity felt good, everything felt good today," a smiling Zambrano said later. "Command felt good, conditions felt good, glove felt good, hat felt good. Seriously everything."
Zambrano has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 5-3 record with a 3.06 ERA. The Des Moines reliever has limited opposing batters to a .212 batting average. | |
