| Boston Grabs 2-1 Lead in Challenger Round | Riding the 2-hit performance of designated hitter Del Gainer, the Boston Pilgrims got a road win against the Houston Black Aces, 6-4, in Game 3 of the Challenger Round today. Gainer was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Pilgrims, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.
Boston used the clutch hitting of Bill Keister to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Pilgrims the lead, 5-4. For the game, Keister had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Keister.
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are J A Happ for Boston and Sonny Siebert for Houston.
