Rangers Handed 4-2 Loss by Seattle | The Seattle Cubs beat the Texas Rangers, 4-2, at Wrigley Field. Ryan Thompson, in particular, was impressive. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Dan Haren picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 3-2. Tim Crabtree was credited with the save for Seattle, his 3rd of the season.
Thompson had no bigger at-bat than in the bottom of the third when the 26-year old center fielder hit a 2-run double. The double gave Seattle the lead, 2-0. It was his 8th double of the season.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Texas skipper Joe Johnson, "and it cost us."
The Cubs, now 16-20, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September. | | | | |
