| Rangers Use Late Rally to Win 5th Straight | The Boston Pilgrims got a sterling performance from pitcher Freddie Fitzsimmons, but the Texas Rangers still prevailed, 4-3. Fitzsimmons threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 3-3.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 3-3, shortstop John Radcliff won it for Texas. With the bases loaded, Radcliff hit a full count fastball from Erv Palica for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 4-3 win.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Boston manager Mike Wallace. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
