| San Diego Defeats Texas, 7-3 | The San Diego Padres beat the Texas Rangers, 7-3. San Diego pitcher and Lonaconing, Maryland, native Lefty Grove led the way. Grove, now 3-4, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. The Padres raised their record to 40-60.
One consequential at-bat came in the top of the sixth. With a runner on 2nd, the batter, Wendell Magee, hit a run-scoring single. It made the score 4-3, San Diego, and helped them go on to win.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Magee told the San Diego Bulletin. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
