| Texas Beats Seattle, 6-2 | Led by Frank Fernandez, the Texas Rangers defeated the Seattle Cubs, 6-2. Fernandez was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Rangers. Texas reliever Michael Tonkin picked up the win, while Bill Snyder took the loss for Seattle. The slumping Cubs have dropped 8 in a row.
Fernandez contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Texas in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-0, Fernandez took a sinker from Bill Snyder and stroked the home run to left-center. His 14th home run of the season allowed the Rangers to leap in front, 4-2.
"I really like what we did out there today," Fernandez said after the game.
