| Pilgrims Earn 11-3 Win Versus Houston | The Boston Pilgrims topped the Houston Black Aces by a score of 11-3. Leading the way was right fielder Sam West. West was 4 for 5 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Pilgrims. Erv Palica recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 2 for 3. The win puts Boston at 70-41 this season.
The Black Aces had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Pilgrims going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the four-time All-Star Mickey Mantle came to the plate. Mantle hit a 3-run home run on a 2-2 sinker from Houston hurler Nick Strincevich. It was Mantle's 24th home run of the year.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Boston manager Mike Wallace.
