| Pilgrims Win, 5-1 | Boston Pilgrims starter Johnny Cueto turned in a top-notch performance against the San Diego Padres at Jack Murphy Stadium. The result was a win for the Pilgrims, 5-1. Cueto picked up the win for Boston, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 10-0. The triumph puts Boston at 83-48 for the season.
Boston used the bat of Chuck Hinton to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Pilgrims ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Hinton told the Boston Daily News.
