Cubs Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop Black Aces, 2-1 | Houston got a terrific performance from pitcher Ray Kremer, but it wasn't enough to beat the Seattle Cubs. Seattle won the Aces Pavillion contest, 2-1. Kremer threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Picking up the save was Dick Robertson. He's now 7 for 11 in save chances. The Cubs, at 55-79, sit in 8th place in the PBL.
Seattle used the clutch hitting of Duke Sims to capture the win. The catcher drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cubs ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Houston skipper Jimi Patricola. | | | | |
