| Black Aces Best Rangers in Pitching Duel | Jose Acevedo pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Texas Rangers, despite Acevedo's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Houston Black Aces at Aces Pavillion. Arlie Pond went 5.2 innings for Houston to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 1 run. He scattered 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 1. His record improves to 2-0. The save went to Sean Doolittle, number 1 for him.
The Black Aces got a big at-bat from left fielder Michael Brantley. For the game, Brantley was 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Houston a 2-1 lead.
"Good win for our guys," said Brantley.
The loss has the Rangers at 7-5.
