Black Aces Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Yankees, 5-2 | The Houston Black Aces topped the New York Yankees, 5-2, in Phoenix Baseball League action at Yankee Stadium I. The standout performance belonged to Houston pitcher and Oakland, California, native Ray Kremer. The win elevated the Black Aces to 86-57.
Houston used the clutch hitting of Michael Brantley to snag the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Black Aces ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
