Seattle Slaps 7-3 Loss on Rangers | The Seattle Cubs dumped the Texas Rangers, 7-3, in large part due to right fielder Jackie Jensen. On the day, Jensen went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Cubs. Monte Weaver earned the win to go to 6-4. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with no walks and 1 strikeout in 7.1 innings of work. Dick Robertson recorded the save, making him 10 for 14.
The win was a team effort for Seattle. Center Fielder Ryan Thompson was among the key contributors. In the top of the second, he put his team in front, 2-0, when he hit a 2-run home run.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Thompson told the Seattle Gazette. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
Seattle is now 62-84. | | | | |
