| Padres Win in Glorious Fashion, 7-5 | Jack Murphy Stadium was host to some intense drama.
San Diego Padres starter Archie Campbell pitched effectively against the Pittsburgh Ambassadors at Jack Murphy Stadium. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 7-5 win. The winner was Jonathan Loaisiga in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Clay Bryant took the loss.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with San Diego trailing 5-4, Harry Chiti hit a sinker from Clay Bryant for a 3-run home run, giving the Padres the walk-off win.
In postgame comments to the San Diego Bulletin, Chiti said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The win puts San Diego at 55-89.
