| Pilgrims Jolt Black Aces, 3-2, with Late Rally | Boston picked up a win at Aces Pavillion, toppling the Houston Black Aces, 3-2. Pitcher Al Mamaux was one of the reasons the Pilgrims triumphed. The win belongs to Scott Kazmir in relief. His record improves to 11-6. Kevin Appier took the loss for Houston. Cody Allen converted his 17th save in 18 tries.
Boston needed the clutch hitting of Mickey Mantle to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pilgrims on top, 3-2. For the game, Mantle had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"You can never predict what'll happen," Mamaux said. "That's why you play the game."
The victory gives the Pilgrims a record of 95-52.
