| Rangers Turn Back Boston, 5-4 | The Texas Rangers had to overcome a big game from Boston right fielder Sam West to leave Arlington Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning 5-4. West was 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. Texas reliever Mike Kekich picked up the win, upping his record to 3-5. Henry Boyle shouldered the loss. Roy Witherup earned his 30th save in 32 tries.
Adam Engel hit a 2-run triple off Al Mamaux in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Rangers in front, 4-2. Engel had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
"Luck is a dividend of sweat," said Engel. "The more you sweat, the luckier you get."
Texas, now 68-84, holds down 7th place in the PBL.
