| Rumors Confirmed, Dwyer Retires Monday, October 30th, 1989 Jim Dwyer said the one thing he hopes he's remembered for in his baseball career is for being the hardest worker around.
It will be time to start reflecting on his career soon, as the 39-year-old Kansas City Monarchs first baseman today announced his retirement from the sport.
"I pride myself on my work ethic and I hope that rubbed off on my teammates and continues to rub off on the team after I'm gone," he said.
In his 685-game career Dwyer is batting .249 with 99 doubles, 11 triples, 45 home runs and 307 RBIs. He has stolen 9 bases and scored 284 times. | | |
