| Kansas City Moves on to Divisional Playoffs Monday, October 10th, 1977 Despite the best efforts of Ossie Bluege, the Kansas City Royals have won the Wildcard Playoffs.
The Boston Red Sox standout was named series MVP, even though his team lost to Kansas City 2-1 in the final game, and dropped the series 4-2.
"Hats off to them, they deserve to be moving on," Bluege said at Fenway Park after being awarded his MVP trophy. "I just wish I could trade this trophy in for a chance at the Ballwhacker Championship Series."
For their part, the Royals celebrated long into the night, as they are now set to move on to the Divisional Playoffs.
The Kansas City Royals will play against the Washington Braves in the next round. Washington had a bye in the Wildcard Playoffs. The Divisional Playoffs schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Playoffs finishes.
