| Travers Spectacular in 6-0 Win Tuesday, July 18th, 1989 Bill Travers of the Montgomery Giants spun his magic on the Franklinton Typhoon today. He blanked them 6-0 on 1 hit, registering 11 strikeouts and 5 walks.
"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Travers said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, Montgomery skipper Minnie Minoso said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations."
"Bill pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said.
To date this year, Travers shows a 13-3 record, 19 starts, 142.2 innings, 177 strikeouts and a 2.78 ERA.
