The San Diego Padres took Boston pitcher Al Orth's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Fenway Park II. The final score had San Diego getting past the Pilgrims, 2-1. Orth went 6 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 8. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 12-12.

The San Diego triumph was a team effort. Not least among the contributors was Daryl Boston. In the top of the 11th, the San Diego center fielder hit a run-scoring single. It staked his team to a 2-1 lead.

Boston told a San Diego Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
