| Fletcher 4-5, Leads Yankees to Win | Yankees shortstop Scott Fletcher put his stamp on his team's 10-4 win over the Pittsburgh Ambassadors. Fletcher was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for New York in the contest. So far, the 1999 season has been disappointing for Pittsburgh, now 13-19.
In the bottom of the fifth, Fletcher had one of his most important at-bats: a run-scoring single off Juan Marichal that staked the Yankees to a 3-2 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Fletcher told the New York Citizen.
