| Close Win Moves Yankees to 18-15 | The Pittsburgh Ambassadors got a sterling performance from third baseman Bob Dillinger, but the New York Yankees still prevailed, 4-3. Dillinger went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. New York reliever Tony Watson was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Bobby Shantz took the loss. The win lifted the New York record to 18-15.
New York right fielder Farmer Weaver made his contribution to the Yankees cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the second inning. For the day, Weaver was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Weaver told the New York Citizen.
