| Cubs Drop Pilgrims, 3-2 | The Seattle Cubs did just enough to sneak past the Boston Pilgrims, 3-2, at Fenway Park II. Seattle pitcher Dan Haren, in particular, had a standout performance. Haren, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. The loss puts Boston at 17-15.
Duke Sims, the 23-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Sims contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Seattle up, 3-1.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Sims said after the game.
