| Rangers Deal Cubs 4-2 Loss | The Texas Rangers got a strong performance from pitcher Gene Bearden, who stymied the Seattle offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Wrigley Field. The winner was Texas reliever Red Murff, now 3-2. The loser was Rosie Rosebraugh. The victory gives Texas a record of 24-13.
Runs were hard to come by in this one. Marvell Wynne's at-bat with one out in the top of the 14th, therefore, was critical. The Texas center fielder hit a sacrifice fly, to put his team on top, 3-2.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Bearden.
