The Texas Rangers and Boston Pilgrims left the fans buzzing.

The Boston Pilgrims defeated the Texas Rangers, 9-4, at Fenway Park II. Boston second baseman Harry Spratt had a superb performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Al Orth got the win, improving to 6-0. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0.

Mickey Mantle came through for Boston in the bottom of the fifth. With one out, Mantle victimized Red Murff with a 3-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put Boston on top, 6-3.

"We take it day by day here," said Spratt, "and today was a good one for us."

The win hiked the Boston record to 26-18.
