Big Day by Dunn Sparks 8-4 Pittsburgh Win | The game between Pittsburgh and Boston is in the books, despite a little rain.
Adam Dunn was a major contributor to the 8-4 Pittsburgh win over Boston. The Ambassadors first baseman was 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Pittsburgh reliever Michael Jackson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Freddie Fitzsimmons was saddled with the loss.
It could have been a different outcome for Pittsburgh, had it not been for Willie Mays, the 1951 Topps Rookie of the Year Award winner . Mays contributed a run-scoring triple in the top of the fourth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 3-2.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Mays told reporters after the game.
The 7th-place Ambassadors improved to 23-29. | | | | |
