| Cubs Take Tight Tilt, 5-4 | Podge Weihe was a vital contributor to the 5-4 Seattle victory over Boston. The Cubs second baseman was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI. Reliever Roy Sherid picked up the win. His record improves to 5-0. Scott Kazmir took the loss. Seattle now owns a record of 29-39.
The game came to an abrupt end with one out in the bottom of the ninth. On a pitch from Henry Boyle, Jackie Jensen hit a sacrifice fly. It gave Seattle the 5-4 win.
