Lake Monsters Rally For Late Win Over Padres | Cleveland Lake Monsters starter Heinie Berger was in fine form. He led his team to victory over the San Diego Padres, 1-0. Andy Hansen snagged the win in relief. In 1.2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits. He's now 2-0 on the season. Adbert Alzolay got the save, his 2nd in 2 chances.
An important at-bat for the Lake Monsters came in the top of the ninth, when second baseman Jose Altuve stroked a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0 in favor of Cleveland. For the day, Altuve went 1 for 4.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Berger told the Cleveland Times.
The Lake Monsters sport a record of 35-56. | | | | |
