Cubs Slap 8-5 Loss on Ambassadors | Spirited fans greeted the Pittsburgh Ambassadors for their clash with the Seattle Cubs.
Seattle right fielder Jackie Jensen made his presence felt in the 8-5 Cubs triumph over the Pittsburgh Ambassadors. Jensen was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. The winner was Schoolboy Rowe, who threw 83 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits. Dick Robertson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 9 save opportunities.
With Seattle leading 3-2 in the top of the fifth, Jensen hit a run-scoring single off Pittsburgh hurler Bobby Shantz. It was the 70th hit of the season for Jensen and put his team ahead, 4-2.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Jensen.
The Cubs raised their record to 46-70. | | | | |
