| Eliminator Round Game 1 Victory for Grove and Houston | If the Pittsburgh Ambassadors were expecting the pressure of the playoffs to get to Lefty Grove, they underestimated the old man.
The Houston Black Aces got a strong start from the 37-year-old left-hander. Grove threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball as Houston won the contest 4-1 at Aces Pavillion to take the lead in their best-of-7 series with the Ambassadors. The Black Aces now lead 1-0.
In the top of the fifth, the Black Aces found themselves in a jam. Pittsburgh had runners on 1st and 3rd with two out. The score was 3-1, Houston. Yordan Alvarez was at the plate, hoping to deal the Black Aces a serious blow. Instead, he struck out to end the threat.
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow in Houston. Slated to start are Juan Marichal for the Pittsburgh Ambassadors and Arlie Pond for the the Houston Black Aces.
